We are proud to partner with the executive team to support the strategic recruitment of a Director of Finance and Administration, in anticipation of the planned retirement of the current Finance Director. This role is based at the company’s head office, located in downtown Montréal.

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
The Director of Finance and Administration will be a self-driven and experienced leader responsible for overseeing accounting, financial management, administration and selected human resources functions. The role includes both operational execution and strategic advisory responsibilities.
More specifically:
- Lead, mentor, and support the accounting and administrative team (Controller; Accounts Payable & Payroll; Accounts Receivable & Billing), as well as the receptionist and two superintendents;
- Oversee the monthly financial close process and ensure accuracy and timeliness;
- Prepare, analyze, and present monthly financial reporting packages and key performance indicators to senior management;
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements and provide variance analysis and explanations;
- Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal financial controls in accordance with company policies and best practices;
- Monitor overall financial performance, including profitability, cost management, and operational efficiency;
- Oversee cash management, treasury activities, and liquidity planning;
- Prepare annual budgets and maintain rolling forecasts and monthly projections;
- Supervise payroll preparation internally (Canada) and externally (U.S. and U.K.), including responsibility for annual bonus calculations;
- Stay current on HR-related regulations, trends, and compliance requirements, and oversee HR-related financial and administrative matters (pay equity analysis and documentation, benefits and group insurance renewal, RSP program, vacation policies, and related employee inquiries);
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements, including tax filings;
- Coordinate, with external consultants, the preparation and filing of e-business and SR&ED claims;
- Support management in contract negotiations, when needed;
- Manage relationships with external partners, including banks, auditors, insurance providers, and external consultants (corporate tax, sales tax, transfer pricing, SR&ED, and IT specialists) in Canada, U.S and U.K;
- Act as a senior member of the organization and actively participate in internal committees (e.g., Pay Equity Committee, French Language Committee);
- Identify, recommend, and lead process improvement initiatives (policies, tools, systems), including the implementation of a new ERP system;
- Perform any additional administrative responsibilities or ad hoc financial analyses required to support senior management.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- CPA Designation;
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with SMEs;
- Proven experience managing teams and working in service-oriented organizations;
- Experience in the SaaS or IT sector (asset);
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics and Excel;
- Knowledge of both US and Canada Corporate income taxes is required;
- Experience preparing tax filings or interfacing with tax firms;
- Experience leading or supporting ERP implementations (asset);
- Exposure to human resources activities (asset);
- Strong professionalism, excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, attention to detail, and a hands-on leadership style;
- Ability to support senior management strategically while remaining operationally involved;
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment;
- Demonstrated professional stability and commitment to long-term engagement;
- Bilingualism (English and French).
